Trust Tate des the attention seekers on Facetime

Trust Tate is a man who made the most out of his second chance. The New Jersey native's life almost ended just when it had started when he was struck by a stray bullet while be pushed in a stroller on a Bronx street.

Perhaps because he realizes that nothing in life is promised, Trust Tate seems determined to get the most of of every opportunity. As a youth he absorbed musical influences left and right, whether it was the 1980s hip-hop that his dad bumped as a well-known break dancer and graffiiti artist or his mother's ecletic playlist that ran the gamut from Jay Z to John Mayer.

Tate kept on his personal music grind even while attending college at Rutgers University. He grew a following by posting more than 150 of his songs on SoundCloud, and now his latest, "Facetime," breaks through to the mainstream.

"Facetime" showcases Trust Tate's skills as a lyricist, as well as his vocal skills. Tate possesses a relaxed vocal style that does not dimish the sting of the darts that he aims at a self-absorbed chic who continues to blow up his Facetime but then acts like she can't be bothered.

Tate says that his songs are often inspired by real life experienes and so they serve as both art and therapy. That should not be surprising since Trust Tate earned a psychology degree from Rutgers.

The song "Facetime" finds him venting about the rollecoaster relationships he has with attention seeking people who use all forms of modern technology to waste his time. "Facetime just happened to be the platform bearing the brunt of my frustrations."
