Such Covers John Legend's 'Ordinary People'
Soulful songstress Such covers John Legend's 2004 hit "Ordinary People" with a new interpretation.
Such's manager, Kevin Harewood of Edclectic Ent. explains how the song cover came to be:
"In February, I was seated in a seaside cafe having breakfast and talking on an international telephone call with my client SuCh about the need for her forthcoming album to be her most personal recording yet. We were discussing about how it needs to reveal more on her inner most feelings, give insight into their intimate realities. We were speaking about how doing so does not mean you have to write all of the material yourself. Then 'Ordinary People' by John Legend gently came over the speaker system of the café. A great interpretation of an exceptional song can often translate more for an audience member than a song written by the singer. I suggested to Such she should remake 'Ordinary People.' She in turn responded it was one of her all time favorite songs. To me it was like providence. The exquisite nature of the location, the special dynamics of the prime relationship in SuCh's life, the masterful quality of Legend's recording all connecting at once. SuCh reach out to her collaborators, producer J.C. and string arranger Monique Brooks- Roberts and she is now sharing the result with the world. Personally it hits me with the reflection of the beauty of the surroundings at St Lawrence Gap."
