STUNNA SANDY is Stepping Up by Jennifer Norwood
“No one’s style is quite like mine,” shares STUNNA SANDY. “No one can sound like me or look like me.”
In less than a year, the 22-year rap artist built a buzz even before formally releasing her first song. “It just went up,” she notes, admitting that while she’s been passionate about music her whole life, the spotlight was never the target. A Brooklyn, New Yorker STUNNA SANDY has stood out in her personal life and brings that distinct identity to her music. August 2024 saw the release of her captivating debut video, “Make It Look Sexy,” and build on that commanding introduction.
STUNNA SANDY is having a banner fall - she recently appeared on the storied On The Radar and she's just released her second single and official track "Fed Up" (1 November 2024) - the music shows major expansion.
STUNNA SANDY has spent her life in Brooklyn. While she bounced around New York City’s largest borough, Crown Heights has been her home since her formative years. “I’m Egyptian-American, and I grew up in an Egyptian household. That has influenced me a lot,” Sandy shares. An AP student in school, it was with her friends in the streets that the self-proclaimed tomboy found community. Instead of picture days, class trips, or attending graduation, STUNNA SANDY was focused on something else entirely. “Growing up in New York is really unique. You’re exposed to a lot more; you have to grow up a little bit faster. That made me who I am today.”
After working a series of jobs and traveling, STUNNA SANDY honed in on music in late 2023. A natural beauty, she had amassed over 20,000 Instagram followers—despite recently re-joining the platform after years away. “This is not something I did intentionally. I just posted my regular pictures; I have a unique look. I shared a little clip from the first time I went to the studio. That snippet was probably the first thing online that you could hear my voice.” That casual video post garnered much attention, including recognition from respected veteran record executive Solomon Sounds. As she experimented with her voice, sound, and beat selection in the studio, STUNNA SANDY eventually opted to join Solomon and his team’s Courtesy Of Records roster.
The single “Make It Look Sexy” was a fitting starting point for Sandy. “This song is really my vibe. The first couple of songs I did were my first time writing or going to the studio. I was kinda trying a whole bunch of different styles and experimenting with voice.
In the coming days, STUNNA SANDY will share more music and glimpses of her personality. “My beats make you feel good and something you can dance to.” STUNNA SANDY has lived up to her name in a short period, and she is building a career to last.
