Sir Mack’s Southern Soul Revival: 'Cellulite in Skintight Leggings' Becomes a Line Dance Hit

Sir Mack, a Southern Soul artist born in Memphis, TN, and raised in Ashland, MS, brings a blend of Blues and R&B to his unique sound. In the 1980s, Sir Mack was part of a group called UnXpected, where he first adopted his stage name. After years of performing in various genres, he has returned to his roots with a solo career, reviving the name that stuck with him from his early days. Growing up with 14 siblings, Sir Mack was influenced by some of the greatest musicians of his time, such as Frankie Beverly and Maze, Luther Vandross, Earth, Wind & Fire, and The Isley Brothers. These legends shaped his musical journey with their timeless hits that resonated across family gatherings, backyard parties, and everyday life. Sir Mack recalls a time when radio DJs would dedicate entire evenings to playing full albums from these iconic artists, creating a soundtrack for special moments.
Sir Mack’s latest single, "Cellulite in Skintight Leggings," captures his keen observation of everyday life. Inspired by women sporting skintight leggings in all kinds of settings, Sir Mack crafted a fun and catchy track that celebrates self-confidence. The song originated while he was deer hunting, as a melody popped into his head. He quickly recorded the tune and lyrics on his phone, eventually bringing the song to life. When listeners heard the final version, many said it had the feel of a line dance anthem. To bring that idea to reality, Sir Mack collaborated with a longtime friend and line dance instructor to create a dance for the track. The tutorial is now available on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.
With "Cellulite in Skintight Leggings," Sir Mack aims to empower women of all sizes and ages, encouraging them to embrace their style with confidence. He wants his listeners to know that it's okay to be themselves and to feel comfortable in their skin. Earlier this year, Sir Mack, along with his band Comfort Zone, performed at Rust College for an alumni event. The performance was a hit, and Sir Mack is focused on staying booked and busy while working on his next singles.
