R&B Singer Kenya Vaun Releases New Music
Rising R&B star Kenya Vaun released new single and video titled “Overrated.” It makes her official debut for 300 Entertainment and paves the way for much more to come.
On the track, it captures a vibe of a glossy guitar loop that wraps around a head-nodding beat. While her dynamic, soulful vocals instantly shine in the spotlight. She shows her range, stretching from intimate verses into the chantable chorus, “You’re overrated, love.” In the accompanying visual, Kenya observes two couples as they experience the ups and downs of their respective relationships, from the vantage point of a third perspective on the outside looking in.
About “Overrated,” she shared, “For me, I feel like in this generation a lot of people are so ready to just move on. When I was writing this song, I was going through my own situation, and I felt like a lot of times what you’re feeling isn’t unconditional love and it’s just for that moment.”
She just enchanted a packed audience at Soho House in NYC during “Someone For Everyone” presented by 300 Entertainment. The evening featured DJ Max October, while Kenya left the room speechless with a show-stopping performance, including “Overrated.”
Hailing from Philadelphia, Kenya discovered the power of music by penning her first song at just seven-years-old. During high school, she ignited a local vocal competition and soon became a fixture at open mic nights around her city. Soon after, she started to record her original music, serving up the likes of songs like “Bout Me” and many more. The latter caught the attention of 300 Entertainment who promptly signed her. Now, her next chapter begins with her single “Overrated.” Stream and watch video down below.
