Producer DJ Spotlight Part 3 - Charles Martin Roane

Last week in part 2 of our interview series, Charles Martin Roane shared how he took his love of music into the full-time passion of running a recording studio while still producing hit songs.  That led to his cementing his mark on the sound of an iconic mainstay - the BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher.  This week in part 3 of the series, we dive into Charles' work with Netflix and beyond.

In short order, Charles' golden ear took him from ownership of two successful recording studios to being tapped as the sound board man of major tentpole shows.  As before, he was recognized for his platinum productions with a-list artists.  He recalls "I started doing this for the Grammys, the American Music Awards, the Golden Globes, the Oscars... as I would make contemporary music that had the feel of shows like the Grammys, artists and managers began coming up to me and asking about the music, and why don’t I put some of it out commercially.

"This led me to finding my artist Haley Gosserand, and making her song demos for placements."

Now Charles' precise, painstaking handiwork can be enjoyed on the second season (November 20, 2024) of the hit Netflix series Rhythm and Flow starring Cardi B, TI, Chance The Rapper, Ludacris, DJ Khaled and Latto. Charles is the lead music producer and music editor of this award-winning series.  Incidentally, Charles also did the theme music for another Netflix series Bookmarks, a children's show were different celebrities read short stories.

Charles is poised to take his own artist to the top.  Not only does Haley Gosserand have new music queuing up, Charles shares that she has achieved even more before her first single's release. He reveals, "my artist Haley Gosserand will appear on another Netflix reality series that will come out in 2025 as well as a featured role in a major motion picture."

All these years in, Charles Martin Roane's discography and IMDb attest that he's one of the music industry veterans who hasn't rested on his laurels but instead is sharing his passion and expertise both with his artist and with the world.
