Elton John Prepares for Farewell Tour

With more than 50 Top 40 hits and over 300 million records sold, Elton John is one of the most popular artists of the era. Now he has announced his intent to retire.

Citing the desire to spend more time with his family, John will embark on one last world tour: Farewell Yellow Brick Road. “I don’t want to be traveling away from my children. There’s no contest. I’d rather be with my children than still be playing shows,” John said.

Farwell Yellow Brick Road will span 300 cities across North America, Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia.

While only a fraction of dates and cities have been announced, John has said that he will finish the show in the United States. “I want my last performance to be in America. This is where I got my start. I owe this country so much,” he said.

After the first 60 shows already sold out within hours of announcing the tour, more cities will soon be added.

The tour will commence on September 8, 2018, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and end in 2021.
