Released in 2004 under Roc-A-Fella Records, "Tough Luv" catapulted Young Gunz into the mainstream spotlight, earning critical acclaim and widespread recognition for its raw lyricism. As the city of Philadelphia pays homage to one of its own, it's crucial to recognize Young Gunz's significant contribution to the music industry. This duo group consists of Neef Buck and Young Chris who hails from Nicetown which is in North Philly. They were signed at the young age of 15 and later made their voices heard across the airwaves with their debut single “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” which was on the Billboard Hot 100 and they received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.
With the undeniably hot songs "Can't Stop, Won't Stop" and "No Better Love” featuring Rell, "Tough Luv" showcased Young Gunz's versatility as music artists. The album not only resonated with fans across the globe but also solidified Young Gunz's by earning them a place on the throne of Hip Hop. The moment when people realized that Young Gunz was a big problem was when they were on the Hot 97 show freestyling on the Funkmaster Flex show in 2001, the building was going wild because they were only 15 at the time. Then when they showed up to the Come Up Show with Cosmic Kev & Q-Deezy on Power 99FM they flowed effortlessly on the mic like it was nothing. Also, the freestyle over Beyonce’s Crazy In Love song showcased their lyrical skills.
Later on, Neef Buck released projects such as the “Trash Bag King” and the “Forever Do Me” projects. Young Chris released solo works such as “The Network” projects, The Re-introduction, and his latest album No Expectations No Disappointments. Following their initial success Young Gunz, Neef Buck, and Young Chris embarked on solo endeavors that further showcased their talents and versatility as solo artists. Neef Buck, in particular, released notable projects like "Trash Bag King" and the "Forever Do Me" series. Meanwhile, Young Chris ventured into his solo ventures with projects such as "The Network" series, "The Re-introduction," and his latest album "No Expectations No Disappointments," each offering a glimpse into his unwavering dedication to his craft.
