CUZNJED, a name that reflects both family ties and community roots, was given to him by his Aunt Kim when he was just a kid. "CUZN" represents the tight-knit community of Cooper Rd in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he has many relatives. Although originally from Shreveport, CUZNJED moved to Dallas, Texas, at the age of 15. This move gave him a blend of both Texas and Louisiana cultures, shaping him into the man he is today. CUZNJED's music is deeply rooted in Southern Soul, a genre that perfectly aligns with his lifestyle. Southern Soul, influenced by hip hop, blues, and gospel, speaks to the everyday experiences and emotions of simple men and women. It's a genre that tells relatable stories. His musical influences are diverse, ranging from hip hop legends like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg to soul icons like Isaac Hayes, Johnny Taylor, and Aretha Franklin. He also draws inspiration from the entire Motown and Stax Records roster, as well as artists like ZZ Hill, 2PAC, Scarface, UGK, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Prince, and Angela Winbush.

CUZNJED's latest single, "Cheating on the Cell Phone," is available on all platforms and has been receiving great feedback. The song was inspired by a true story, as are many of CUZNJED's tracks. He collaborated with his partner BoBo to create this jam, working through the concept over the phone while enjoying a few beers. For the hook, he enlisted the talents of J-Lake, a producer and singer, and his nephew Prince Hodge, who mixed and mastered the record. The creation of "Cheating on the Cell Phone" was a collaborative effort, born out of real-life experiences. CUZNJED's approach to songwriting often involves drawing from his own life or situations he's witnessed, creating authentic and relatable music. The song highlights the vulnerability that can arise when someone is locked up, leaving their partner to advances from others, even friends. Fans of CUZNJED can catch him live at the Texas Crossover Bike and Car Show in Ft. Worth, Texas, on Saturday, July 27th. There will also be a show at the SouthernSoul Food Labor Day show in Dallas, Texas on Sept 1,2024. These performances promise to showcase his unique blend of Southern Soul, bringing his stories and experiences to life on stage.
