Angelica Vila Releases Brand New Single "Why feat. Jacquees
R&B singer Angelica Vila releases her brand new single, “Why (feat. Jacquees),” via Roc Nation.
“I write my music hoping that people will connect with it,” said Vila. “’Why’ is a song that I know many girls out there are going to relate to, so I’m excited for people to hear it.”
“Angelica has worked so hard on her music since I met her, and ‘Why’ is an incredible song,” said Fat Joe. “I’m so proud of her. This is going to be her year.”
Vila burst into the mainstream in 2019 with her critically acclaimed single “More In the Morning.” She followed this up with the single “All I Do Is 4 U,” a nostalgic track whose video features Dave East and Dapper Dan. Vila was also featured on Papoose’s single “The Golden Child (featuring Remy Ma),” which appeared on his 2019 album, Underrated.
Hailing from the Bronx, Vila spent her teen years performing, opening for the likes of Trey Songz, Fabolous and Future before releasing her debut EP 1998 in 2016. In 2018, she caught the attention of veteran hip hop artist Fat Joe with her freestyle over DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts” on Instagram. Joe was so impressed that he took her under his wing, serving as her mentor. Shortly after that, he signed her to his RNG label in partnership with Roc Nation.
Since then, she has performed at a variety of festivals and venues across the country, including Made In America, ESSENCE Fest and TIDAL X.
